Hello High Places!

We hope you are staying healthy and happy in these very trying times in which we find ourselves. As High Places continues to broadcast virtually, we will host a special Easter gathering this Sunday at 10:30. Our plan is to officially celebrate Easter our first Sunday back, but we will still have church together this week so I hope you will consider joining in the joy of this incredible day in our faith lives.

Easter marks the victory and power of love over the forces of hate and death. It is the ultimate expression of HOPE, and a message that has perhaps never spoke to an event in our lifetimes as powerfully as it does right now. We are children of God, and as the children of God, we are children of hope. Stop now and pray, ask God to give you hope in this crisis through the power of His risen Son, Jesus. You might be surprised with how He answers!!!!

You can join us on Easter in two ways –

#1  Click on this link Sunday morning:  https://pexip.me/stream/23487fc3-5a2c-4073-8e35-5c9df5723d6f and then join the stream, which is broadcast on YouTube. Be sure to hit subscribe to my channel so you don’t have to repeatedly cut and paste the link each week, it’s easier!

#2  You can join us also by taking a picture of you and your people and emailing it to me for a slideshow at highplaceschurch@comcast.net. I hope to get pictures of us all and make a slideshow to play during the live stream. So find a cool place to take a photo, put on your PJ’s or your Sunday best – either will do – and snap away. If you can, take two pictures. The first one can be normal, but on the second one point to the sky to signify your faith in a RISEN Lord. It will be fun to see pics of us all pointing the same way for once! Get your pictures to me by Saturday morning at 10:00 AM if at all possible!

If you’re struggling during these times, or looking for ways to help, please check out the CoVId community resource page that United Way has created -- https://uwayac.org/community-resources-during-the-covid-19-outbreak/  There have been several us meeting weekly to share resources to help consolidate an easy to read, easy to find, guide for navigating this crisis when in need (check the picture attachment!)

Finally, I would like to host an online book club for the community beginning the Wednesday night after Easter. The book is Gretchen Rubin’s “Happier at Home.” Since most all of us are social distancing from home, this book seemed extra-appropriate. It is not a difficult book, nor is it particularly deep. It is extremely practical, however. You can read more about it on Amazon, but it should be easy to find….

I recommend the digital version so you can start right away or doing a free 30-day trial with Audible to get the book for free. You can cancel any time in the first 30 days so as not to be charged the subscription fee and you get to keep the book.

Finally, I will be hosting a catch-up virtual meeting for anyone who’d like to get online and just see another face, hear another voice, or toss a virtual hug. Join me tonight at 8:00 PM on the virtual chat page located at our normal hosting site. If you need log-in information, please call me.

Peace to you all as we wait on this terrible virus to run its course and our health professionals to care for us as a nation. Please lift up all those on the front lines as they serve.

Love you all, He is Risen.

 David

2 Chronicles 7:14

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
